How To Make an Extra $500 a Month from Home

You can earn some quick cash by trying one of these ideas:

1. Sell your stuff

   I’m sure you’ve heard it before: one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. What we may not need or want anymore might be the very thing someone else is searching for.
   
   Turn your has-beens into cash by selling your unwanted items online. Have some old CDs or DVDs that you’re finally ready to part with? You can find your ideal buyer on sites like Decluttr or Craigslist.

2. Sell your clothes.

   Are there some gently worn clothing in your closet that you’re ready to part with? You can make money fast by placing these items on sites like Poshmark, eBay, or even Facebook Marketplace.
   
   I’ve sold my kids’ outgrown, gently worn clothing on eBay, and have earned some extra cash quickly from it. My son had so many growth spurts that I was often selling his never-worn shoes and pants online. I also encouraged my children to think like entrepreneurs by letting them find some of the items they wanted to sell and then I would split the profit with them.

3. Yard sale.

   A good ol’ yard sale is a great way to earn some quick cash. If the weather permits, set up a few tables and display your items for sale. Better yet, partner with a few neighbors or work with your homeowners’ association for a neighborhood-wide sale.

4. Sell stock photos online.

   If you’re a good photographer, make money online by selling your images as stock photos. The best way to do this is by selling your photos as images for sale on third-party websites like iStockPhoto, Dreamstime, Shutterstock, or 123RF. This is a quick, easy, and affordable way to sell them. You make your money by getting a royalty payment for those photos that are sold.

5. Proofreading

   Do you find yourself pointing out each incorrect use of grammar or each misspelled word when reading blog posts or articles? If you have a good grasp of the English language, there are plenty of writers who could use a second pair of eyes to review their work. What’s great is that you can make a six-figure income proofreading from home.
   
   

6. Start a side hustle.

   I can’t even count how many side hustles I’ve done in my lifetime. From an early age, I had some type of business going on–detective agency at 7 years old, cookie stand at 8, car wash “company” at 12, wedding planning at 25, and the list goes on.
   
   The fact of the matter is that there’s always a way to earn some quick cash if you’re willing to do the work. These may not all be glamorous jobs, but they can get the bills paid–fast!

   Uber, Lyft – I have a good friend who was a driver with Uber part-time and made enough to cover his rent and utilities. Another friend did both Uber and Lyft and covered all his bills each month.
   
   Food delivery – If you’re really ready to hustle, then consider delivering food or products with companies like Amazon Flex, Instacart, Uber Eats, or Postmates. Other popular food delivery services are Door Dash and Grub Hub.
   
   Appen – if you like social media and have at least 25 followers, you can qualify for quite a few social media evaluator jobs with Appen. Their hourly rates range from an average of $9.87 per hour for an Independent Contractor to $30 per hour for a Data Collector.
   
   Gigwalker – this is a great idea whether you’re looking for a little spending money or want to earn an entire extra paycheck. Gigwalk collects projects from businesses and matches them with people to complete them based on GPS locations.
   
   You can pick from gigs that take anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours or based on how much you want to make – from $3 to $100 or more.
   
   Freelance on Fiverr – do you have a skill or service that others need? With Fiverr, you can offer any service you want as long as it’s legal and complies with their terms. There are over 200 categories you can browse to get ideas, so the possibilities are almost endless.

7. Freelance writer.

   If writing comes easy to you and you enjoy it, you can make money writing online. You can find writing jobs through sites like Upwork or Freelancer. Or, if you really love writing, consider starting a mom blog where you can make $500 or more a month.

8. Work at home job.

   There are some legitimate ways to make money from home, and having an at-home job gives you freedom and flexibility while helping you earn extra money.
