When eating a vegan diet, it’s important to get in all of the recommended vitamins and minerals each day. It’s easy to think you’re healthier because you’ve adopted a vegan diet, however, that’s not always true. Oreos are vegan but I wouldn’t recommend eating a meal’s worth of them.
When I first really started paying attention to my health and how what I ate impacted it, I struggled with getting in the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. What saved me were green drinks and smoothies.
I started by drinking store-bought brands, but they were often loaded with sugars. So, I created my own green machine smoothie recipe and I’m happy to share it with you.
I think it’s delicious and included ingredients I felt were important for my health. You’ll have to decide whether or not this Green Machine Smoothie good for you.
Green Machine Smoothie

1 banana (sliced and frozen)
1/4 cucumber (sliced and frozen)
3 tbsp lemon juice, fresh
2 handfuls spinach, fresh
5 oz frozen mango chunks (approx. 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup parsley, fresh
1 tbsp hemp protein powder (or seeds)
1 tbsp flaxseeds, ground
Instructions
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice banana. Peel and
slice cucumber. Place both on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours - Add all ingredients to blender and puree until ingredients are
well-mixed. Add a bit of water if needed. - Serve immediately or store leftovers in an airtight mason jar in
refrigerator for up to 2 days.
